Iranian film ‘Simulation’ is scheduled to vie at Shanghai International Film Festival in China.

Directed by Abed Abest, the movie is to have its first Asian screening in the Chinese event.

The 85-minute drama depicts three young people who are looking for a place in their hometown to have an enjoyable time over the weekend.

While discussing over a variety of options, they finally decide on the house of an old man. In the past they had only visited him once and did not have any particular close relations with him.

The old man welcomes them, but the party leads to a tragic catastrophe for all of them. Despite beginning on a good start, the night concludes with each of them starting trouble and quarreling, concluding with a police intervention and the beginning of a tragedy.

Founded in 1993, Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is the only competitive film festival in China, the official website of the event wrote.

SIFF focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.

The festival is to be launched on June 17-26, 2017.
